SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - It's been a week with lots of good news stories and we begin with lawyers helping pave the path to justice for all.
The Georgia Bar Foundation presented a $10,000 grant this week to the Mediation Center of the Coastal Empire. The center offers the opportunity for people to resolve business and personal legal disputes privately and without having to incur legal fees.
The center will use the money to add computers and staff, to move clients through faster and cut down on what is presently a four-week wait for its services.
The Savannah Parkinson's Support Group invited folks out to move the ball forward on Parkinson's Disease, in the Savannah community and beyond. This week they held a golf tournament to raise awareness for the disease as well as to help the organizations who help people who suffer from it.
The money raised from the tournament will also help expand the support group's outreach into Bryan and Effingham counties as well as allow them to start an initiative where they go out and provide awareness and education.
And finally, for the fifth year in a row, the sound of music is filling the Savannah summer nights.
The 2017 Voice Festival is now a few days into their three weeks' worth of operas, concerts, dinner shows and more.
There will be performances by the world-class vocal talent which makes the music festival one of Savannah's fastest growing festivals.
The festival goes through Aug. 26, making this their longest season yet.
