SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

An Effingham County motorcycle club made a big donation to the Safe Shelter in Savannah on Saturday.

The Effingham County Wingmen gave the shelter $2,000 and a lot of supplies.

Several businesses helped the motorcycle club with the donation.

This is the second year that the group's Helping Hands ride has benefitted the Safe Shelter.

"It covers multiple counties in our area and we feel like it's a good thing for our community," says Effingham County Wingman Kenneth Siemiekiewicz.

"Any group, any charity, any agency or individual, they could donate to any agency in town, but when they choose Safe Shelter, it's just a blessing for us all the way around," says Safe Shelter Director Cheryl Branch.

The shelter helps hundreds of women and children every year. The director says the money and donations go a long way in helping them achieve their goal.
