48-year-old man medevacked by Coast Guard to Tybee Island

TYBEE ISLAND, GA (WTOC) -

The Coast Guard medevacked a 48-year-old man who was 20 miles east of St. Catherines Island on Sunday.

A little before 10 a.m. Coast Huard Sector Charleston Command Center watchstanders were notified by radio by the crew of a 41-foot fishing vessel, Scat II, saying a passenger was suffering from shortness of breath.

Shortly after 10 a.m. a Coast Guard Station Tybee Island 45-foot response boat launched with EMS on board.

The crew arrived at the vessel around 11 a.m. and transported the man to Station Tybee Island where EMS was waiting.

The man was taken to a hospital in Savannah for further medical treatment.
