SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

A Savannah agency that helps special needs adults find work got to spotlight what they do.

The Coastal Center for Developmental Services hosted a tour for Georgia's Commissioner of Labor and Commissioner of Agriculture and their staffs. Both got to see how CCDS helps train adults for the marketplace, but also how they contract with companies like Gulfstream and others to provide the assembly of parts and other skills.

They say their trainees bring skills and incentive to the workforce.

The commissioners say they hope to share what they're doing with companies that could use more labor.

“Every one of our 200-plus people that are out in the Savannah area workforce are bringing value to their employers,” said Executive Director Ken Boyd.

CCDS offers a catering program that teaches kitchen skills and feeds not only their campus but also contracts outside events, too.
