SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

The only four-time World Heavyweight champion, Evander 'The Real Deal' Holyfield, is bringing boxing to Savannah in an attempt to help children in the community.

Real Deal Boxing is planning to bring a series of boxing matches to the city with the theme, 'Knuckle Up, Guns Down.' The fights are intended to raise money for the Boys and Girls Club to promote productive activities with the aim of keeping kids from joining gangs.

The Boys and Girls Club is near and dear to Holyfield's heart.

"I'm one of the kids that went to the Boys Club at the age of six with three of my other friends. We all walked together. My mom challenged me to go into the Boys Club. The Boys Club changed my life. I am who I am because of the Boys Club," he said.

Holyfield was in Savannah Friday to promote the upcoming series of fights that are expected to begin at the Civic Center in December.
