Eclipse viewing events in Coastal Empire, SC Lowcountry

Solar Eclipse Viewing Events:


-Fort Pulaski "Off the Path" Eclipse Party - Throughout the day, they'll offer arts, crafts, and Junior Ranger activities for children.
At the Fort, the eclipse will start at 1:15 p.m. and end at 4:15 p.m., with maximum darkness around 2:45 p.m. Free eclipse viewing glasses will be available to the public while supplies last. Organizers say please note that during maximum darkness, movement around the fort may be limited for safety reasons.

-Eclipse 101 at the Garden City Library - Join the Children’s Librarian for a special S.T.E.A.M. program all about Monday’s solar eclipse. At 2:30 p.m. attendees will wear the special glasses outside and observe the eclipse as it happens. Glasses available for kids only, while supplies last. Ages 5 and up. Event is from 2 to 3 p.m. at the Garden City Library, 104 Sunshine Avenue, Garden City. Call 912-629-5070 for more info.

-Eclipse Pop Up Concerts around Downtown Savannah - Join The Fabulous Equinox Orchestra for live music during the eclipse. Members of the orchestra will take over downtown Monday with several pop up concerts, starting at 1:30 p.m. on Liberty Street and ending around 2:45 p.m. on Ellis Square. Then, the entire band will have an after-party at The Jinx on Congress Street. You can enjoy the tunes of Motown, Frank Sinatra, and more swinging standards from Savannah's own big band at this special concert. Admission is free!


-The Great American Eclipse Live Event - See the eclipse in Idaho, Wyoming and Kentucky before it hits South Carolina! Snacks are provided and viewing glasses available while supplies last. Starts at 11 a.m. Monday morning at the Bluffton Branch library on Palmetto Way. Free and open to the public.

-Sonesta Resort Hilton Head Island Eclipse Viewing Party - From noon until 4 p.m. at its outdoor bar and restaurant, Sandbar. Special viewing glasses will also be provided. The viewing party will feature live and a Lowcountry BBQ. 

-Joe Riley Stadium will host an eclipse viewing party followed by a Riverdogs Game.

-A few other SC Lowcountry viewing event locations: Columbia's Riverfront Park, Lake Murray, the Historic Columbia Speedway, and the Spirit of Communications Park, which is home to Columbia's minor league baseball team, the Fireflies. The park is one of only three places in the United States to have a minor league game that will be played the exact time as the eclipse!
