SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Savannah Mayor Eddie DeLoach is speaking out on the issue of rezoning after a debacle earlier this month.

The request was brought by developers attempting to build an apartment complex near Forsyth Park. Mayor DeLoach says he would like to get a group of people together from different departments to come up with zoning policies. He would also like to see a roadmap for developers - helping them to identify where it is okay to build.

"Does it work in the canal district or does it work in the Savannah River Landing? All of those questions, an overall plan needs to be set down in place so people can say, 'I know where it's okay to build,' the mayor said.

Mayor DeLoach acknowledges denser developments, like apartment complexes, will be coming to Savannah in the future. The confusion weeks ago led to developers to withdraw their request.
