The victim of a vicious assault and kidnapping in Statesboro wants to save others from the same type of crime.

He wants renters to have neighborhood crime information for the places they may want to call home.

Thieves attacked Tyler Strudgeon in his duplex earlier this month. They kidnapped him and forced him to an ATM to withdraw money and robbed him. He says he now knows about more crime in this area than he did when he signed the lease.

Police told Tyler a home invasion was rare, but armed crimes in the neighborhood aren't. He couldn't believe there has been a dozen in the last year.

"It's definitely something I would have talked to my roommates about, something my mother would have questioned when she saw it and the lease agreement," said Tyler Studgeon, Victim.

He's grateful to police for finding and arresting suspects in the case and the property owner for allowing him out of the lease.

This afternoon, we spoke with Statesboro's mayor by phone. She said she's spoken to Tyler and his family and are already researching what they can and can't require. In the meantime, you can access a good bit of that data on the police department's website. Of course, we'll keep you updated.
