School Board Close to Closing Deal with Lockamy

Savannah-Chatham public schools are very close to officially having a new superintendent. During an executive session Monday, members of the board of education went over the final details of the contract they've presented to Dr. Thomas Lockamy, Jr.

Board president Hugh Golson tells WTOC he anticipates an announcement in the next few days and is confident Dr. Lockamy will accept the proposed contract. When he does, salary and start dates will be made official.

The district will then have two superintendents on the payroll. Former superintendent Col. John O'Sullivan is still being paid the remaining portion of his $350,000 salary over the next 11 months after resigning last year.
