Death Ruled Heat Related

Police have now confirmed that 68-year-old William Eggar--the man found dead near the Chatham-Bryan County line--suffered a stroke related to yesterday's high temperatures.

Construction workers found Eggar's body yesterday morning on Basin Road. Police say it appears Eggar's car had gotten stuck and he was trying to get it out. He gave up and headed toward a main road for help when he suffered the stroke and died.

The autopsy showed that Eggar's stroke was a result of physical exertion, age, physical condition and heat exposure.
