Rabies Found in Feral Cat

There's a warning tonight about cats after one tested positive for rabies. The cat was found near the Landings, and that's where the Chatham County Health Department began hanging up warning signs.

The feral cat attacked a woman trying to feed it. And since several people in our area feed feral cats, the health department is reminding all to be careful.

"So what we're trying to do is just educated the public not to panic, but to vaccinate your cats and dogs," said the health department's Sharon Varn.

The woman attacked by the feral cat is undergoing rabies treatment. Rabies can be a deadly disease if not treated immediately.
