Savannah-Chatham police are investigating yet another homicide, the second shooting death in two days on Whitaker Street. About 11:45pm last night, police and ambulance units were called to the Pump and Pantry convenience store at 37th and Whitaker, where they found 23-year-old Anthony Marshall with at least one gunshot wound to the head.
He was lying next to the pay phones outside the store and declared dead at the scene by EMTs.
There were a number of witnesses at the store and they reported seeing the victim leave just moments before the gunshots were heard. Neighbors in the area say they heard four to five gunshots, then the sound of a car speeding away.
Marshall's body has been taken to the GBI crime lab for an autopsy.
