Former exec pleads guilty to embezzling $2.4 million

A former Cox Communication executive pleaded guilty to conspiring to embezzle millions of dollars.

Janet West served as the company's vice president in charge of Nationwide Field Marketing.

Authorities say West allegedly began making payments to a third party company in 2011, but the embezzlement scheme resulted in much of the funds being transferred back to her.

West then used the funds to make payments on two homes she owned in Arizona. In total she cost the company $2.4 million.

"West defrauded a company that trusted her judgment as a vice president," says United States Attorney Byung J. Pak in a press release.

Her sentencing is slated for March 12, 2018.
