Top Teen--Nikita Carpenter

Nikita Carpenter Nikita Carpenter

Most teens spend the summer getting a little rest and relaxation, but we found one doing just the opposite. This summer, Nikita Carpenter is working at the Candler Prescription Shop Pharmacy.

"I like what I do because it's an interesting field," he said.

But he's not working for pay. Nikita is there for the experience. "So I can have something in mind once I graduate from high school and also so I can stay active during the summer."

At just 15 years old, Nikita can't legally get paid to work, but that's okay for him. He love volunteering. Monday through Wednesday, he files paperwork for the pharmacists to learn the administrative side of the pharmaceutical industry. He says it's a great way to explore all the future job possibilities.

"Even though I'm volunteering here, I am studying communications at the Savannah Arts Academy," he said. "So, it might even be nice to go to film school and become a director."

Who knows? With his experience, he could end up filling a prescription and direct a movie all at the same time.

Nikita Carpenter, this week's WTOC Top Teen.

Nikita will be a sophomore this year at Savannah Arts Academy and he hopes to have straight A's like he did as a freshman.
