Annual Mayors' Christmas Motorcade delivering gifts to Georgia Regional patients

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Savannah Mayor Eddie DeLoach will join mayors from across the Southeast on Wednesday, Dec. 6, as part of the 58th annual Mayors' Christmas Motorcade.

The Georgia Municipal Association began the Mayors' Christmas Motorcade in 1959 at the request of then-Governor Ernest Vandiver as a way of providing holiday gifts for the patients of Georgia's mental health and retardation hospitals. The program is also aimed at raising the awareness of the needs of Georgia's mental hospitals.

On Wednesday, area mayors will gather at 10 a.m. at the National Guard Armory on Eisenhower Drive in Savannah. From there, they will deliver donated gifts to Georgia Regional Hospital patients.
