An accident involving a stolen car leaves two suspected carjackers in the hospital. Just after 10pm last night, an officer spotted a red Honda that had been taken during a carjacking Wednesday morning. The officer turned on his blue lights and tried to pull the car over, but the driver sped away, eventually heading south on Ash Street.
The car collided with a Ford Explorer traveling east on Anderson after the Honda ran the stop sign. The impact sent the Honda rolling into some trees, trapping two men inside.
Firefighters had to use the Jaws of Life to get the seriously injured suspects out. They were rushed to Memorial Health.
Three people in the Explorer were taken to Candler Hospital to be checked over.
Officers found a handgun and crack cocaine in the stolen Honda. Police say charges against the two suspects are pending their recovery.
