Pit Bull Owner Fined, Order to Buy Surety Bond

An Effingham County judge has ruled on what to do with a pit bull which bit a teenage girl last month. Baby the pit bull bit 17-year-old Hailey Stafford when she rescued her little dog from being mauled. She had to get several stitches.

Yesterday, a judge fined Baby's owner $365 and ordered him to get a $15,000 surety bond on the dog. If he doesn't, Baby will be put to sleep in 20 days.

The Staffords say they plan to sue Baby's owner to pay for Hailey's medical costs.
