It's not every day a town turns 100. That's why the City of Pembroke has a celebration planned tomorrow. The town started along the Seaboard railroad line. A caboose was home to Pembroke's first resident, the train foreman.
Organizers say the weekend is more like a close-knit family reunion.
"People are coming back just to be in Pembroke and visit with friends," said celebration coordinator Elizabeth Harn. "We have several class reunions that are going on tonight and tomorrow night. Others are just coming back.
The festivities start tomorrow morning at 10:30am with an hour-long parade. Demonstrators will churn butter, shoe horses and other period tasks. The fun continues until 5pm.
Our own Sonny Dixon will serve as the master of ceremonies.
