VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

Georgia State Patrol said one person was killed in a crash on Thursday.

It happened around 3:30 p.m. on Rocky Ford Road, just south of Knights Ferry Road.

Karen Root, 62, of Valdosta, was killed after her car overturned onto the driver's side and hit a tree.

Root was pronounced dead at the scene.

Neighbors said they are frightened after a second fatal car crash on a South Georgia road in front of their home.

Rocky Ford resident Wanda Ladd said she saw the wreck just after it happened.

She stated it was a terrifying sight.

"Yesterday, all night long I just kept praying for whoever it was, who's family member that passed away, it was devastating for me to see yesterday," explained Ladd.

Wanda Ladd stated she is afraid to walk out to her mailbox because of how dangerous the road is.

This is the second fatal crash to happen on Rocky Ford in less than a month.

Thirty-two-year-old Zachary Kolberg died on December 13th after being struck by a car.

The cause of yesterday's crash is still under investigation.
