A sheriff's deputy is out of work after investigators found stolen equipment on his property. Lt. Waymon Chapman worked 17 years as a Liberty County sheriff's deputy, but he lived in Long County. Acting on a tip, investigators searched Chapman's property for an excavator missing from a job site in Liberty County.
They found it and a bulldozer stolen from Liberty County nearly three years ago.
Liberty sheriff Don Martin says he fired Chapman and turned the case over to the GBI.
