Fort Stewart Soldiers Killed in Bombing

The family of a Fort Stewart soldier says four soldiers from the Third Infantry Division were killed in Iraq. The men died Thursday when their Humvee hit a roadside bomb in Samarra.

The Department of Defense has not released the names of the soldiers yet; however, a family member identified one of the victims as 24 year old Staff Sergeant Jeremy Doyle. Doyle was a truck commander who had been in the Army for six years.

His mother, Debbie Grove, of Pocomoke City, Maryland, said she couldn't have asked for a better son. "He was a class clown," she said. "He didn't like to do his work but teachers always loved him because he was the class clown. I couldn't be more proud of him, he is a great guy."

Staff Sergeant Doyle's sister said the family is still trying to come to terms with their loss.

"(I) keep thinking it's a dream," explained Cammie Doyle, "and you are going to wake up, but it never is."

Funeral services for Staff Sergeant Doyle will be held in his hometown of Martinsville, Indiana.
