COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

A Columbus teen has been accepted to compete in the 2018 Miss Jr. Teen Pageant.

Katiana Lyons will compete for thousands of dollars in prizes and specialty gifts.

The pageant takes place Feb. 18 in Warner Robins, Georgia.

The Miss Jr. Teen division includes young ladies ages 7 to 20 years old who will compete in modeling, personality, and interviewing. Personality is the number one aspect that each contestant will be judged on during each phase of the competition.

If Katiana wins the title, she will go on to compete nationally in Orlando, Florida where she will have a chance to win $30,000 in awards and prizes.

"It's actually very exciting because it’s the first time I’m actually doing it. Everybody is so nice. They greet you and they tell you exactly what's going on when you walk through the door," says Katiana.

Katiana will be the only contestant from Columbus who will compete in the pageant.
