One of Savannah's most-wanted criminals is off the streets thanks to a tip from an alert citizen. Savannah-Chatham police arrested 28-year-old Derrick Lamont Nesbitt about 12:30am this morning at Candler Hospital after receiving an anonymous tip. He's wanted in connection with the armed robbery of a Bay Street convenience store that took place on August 4.

Police say he has a history of fighting with officers. He first gave police a false name.

"He was identified by three officers who had previous contact with him," said Sgt. Pete Leopold. "At that time, he did admit that he was the subject that was wanted."

Nesbitt was taken to the Chatham County jail on armed robbery and some other Superior Court warrants.
