PICKENS, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Deputies said an arrest has been made in connection with a shooting death believed to have occurred back in February of this year.

Officials with the Pickens County Sheriff's Office said they received information from a witness revealing that a man had been shot and killed after a dispute between two men at a residence on the 100 block of Can Do Lane in Pickens County. Deputies said the preliminary investigation revealed that the shooting may have occurred last month.

Deputies said the witness told detectives there was evidence at the residence that caused them to believe the victim's body may still be at the scene.

The Sheriff's Office executed a search warrant on the residence and arrested Timothy Keith Poole for murder, without incident.

Deputies said a search of the property yielded the discovery of more evidence related to the murder. That evidence ultimately led to the discovery of an adult male's body buried in a shallow grave, covered with a slab of concrete, said deputies. They said the grave was located at the rear of the residence.

The Sheriff's Office said  detectives observed indicators of severe trauma on the victim's body at the scene.

Coroner Kandy Kelley identified the victim as Bryan Wayne Poole, 50, of Can Do Lane. Kelley also confirmed Friday that Poole died from a single gunshot wound to the head.  According to deputies, Timothy Poole and Bryan Poole are cousins.

The shooting happened on Poole's property, where deputies said his remains were also found. According to investigators, Bryan Poole had been temporarily residing with Timothy Poole when the incident occurred, which appeared to stem from a verbal dispute.

41-year-old Timothy Keith Poole was arrested and charged with murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime and destruction/removal of human remains.

On Friday, deputies said Poole waived his bond hearing and no other court hearings have been scheduled at this time.

“Our hearts and prayers remain with the family and friends," Sheriff Rick Clark said. "Violent encounters are never easy for any family especially when it involves the loss of life but incidents such as this unfortunately result in the loss of two family members as one may potentially face a life of incarceration.”
