Some good news for Savannah-Chatham schools. Their SAT scores have gone up 16 points within the district. The increase came in the math portion of the exam.
Schools like Savannah Arts Academy are pleased with the improvements. Their scores went up 13 points from 2004. The school credits its various tutorial programs and parent involvement for the rise in scores.
But administrators say there's always room for improvement. "We've set a new goal of 1100 for our average score," said Principal Marcia Clanton. "We're at 1051 right now. We're pleased, but we're always striving to do better."
The SAT scores are the result of last spring's exam.
