Roberson steps down as Savannah High football coach

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Savannah High is looking for their second head football coach in two years.

David Roberson announced he is stepping down as the head coach of the Blue Jackets to take another coaching opportunity in Atlanta.

"While we didn't reach our state championship goal, we made tremendous strides as a football team and a program by making the playoffs for only the 2nd time in the last 25 years," Roberson wrote on Twitter. "The experiences that I've had over the course of my tenure have been unforgettable."

Roberson led The High to a 6-5 record in his only season and a state playoff berth.

Athletic director Tim Jordan says he hopes to name the new head coach by next week so the team will be ready for spring practice.
