TYBEE ISLAND, GA (WTOC) - Orange Crush 2018 is in full effect this weekend, but so is the alcohol ban across Tybee Island.
Law enforcement has been preparing for this huge annual event for some time. Patrol cars were lined up along Highway 80 as a cautionary measure to deter drinking and driving. Tybee police say they haven't made any arrests on Saturday, and many partygoers say they are aware of the alcohol ban and are abiding by it.
"So far, most folks are well behaved," said Tybee Island Mayor Jason Buelterman. "It's our responsibility as a city to make sure we keep everybody safe. These folks out here, once they cross the bridge, they are on our jurisdiction and it's our job to keep everybody safe and that's why we have so many extra law enforcement."
These orange crush beachgoers kept it clean with Tybee Islands alcohol ban in place.
"It's been pretty chill," said Chad Young. "I haven't seen anyone fighting or arguing. Things of that nature. It's just really chill out here today."
"Everybody has been handling it as adults," said Victor Cooler.
They were all just here to have fun and not cause any problems for an event that has gotten bigger year after year.
