SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - A man accused of shooting of an Army captain in downtown Savannah in 2004 has received a guilty verdict from a jury.
A jury found Deon Jones guilty on of the felony murder of U.S. Army Captain Scott Corwin during a robbery near Monterey Square in 2004. The jury did acquit Jones of a malice murder charge, meaning they don't think that Jones planned the murder.
Jones was already in jail on an unrelated issue when his warrant was served. A captain in the Army stationed at Fort Stewart, Scott Corwin was walking with his girlfriend through Monterey Square at night in May of 2004 when he was shot.
Corwin was a member of the 92nd Engineer Battalion at Fort Stewart.
