RICHMOND HILL, GA (WTOC) -

Congressman Buddy Carter says he will continue to fight against the opioid addiction and crisis affecting the 1st District of Georgia.

Walgreens is expanding its safe medication disposal kiosks in Georgia and now the Walgreens on Highway 17 in Richmond Hill has a drop box for unused medication. The retail pharmacy giant now has 29 locations across the state where people can safely dispose of unwanted medications. Please click here to find a store near you.

Congressman Carter stopped by this event after his opioid forum with local law enforcement leaders and says this helps in the fight against the opioid crisis.

“One of the main ways people get addicted to drugs, particularly young people, is because of leftover medication in medicine cabinets. This will help to solve that problem,” Rep. Carter said.

If you have prescribed medication you're no longer using, you can drop it off at the Walgreens on Hwy 17.
