SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

When you type in the website for the Savannah Police Department, for the first time in a long time, you get where you want to go.

The new department unveiled a new website Monday with lots of new features and information.

You can file a police report online, learn how officers are working the community and even apply for a job.

One new feature is interactive crime maps. You click on the link. That brings you a map covered in clickable icons allowing you to see what kind of crime happened when and where.

That data is then broken down into graphs showing you what crimes are most common, what crimes are most likely to happen on Wednesday or any other day of the week and at what time.

Another highlight, new precinct maps that are more modern and user-friendly, including one for the Eastside precinct created after the demerger.

Chief Mark Revenew says the goal was to make the new website more user-friendly, visually appealing and to better provide vital information to those they serve. He says they're "extremely pleased" with the result.
