SCREVEN CO., GA (WTOC) - One small town hopes to turn travelers into tourists by showing what they have to offer.
Revolutionary re-enactors helped entertain crowds at the annual Georgia On My Mind Day at the Georgia Welcome Center in Screven County, at the GA/SC line. Friday morning featured information on attractions in the region as well as around the state. Hosts say it helps them showcase the things that might interest viewers on their highway.
"We have a lot of people passing through who enjoy the slower pace 301 offers, and all the beauty as well," said Jessica Godbee, Welcome Center Manager.
The Welcome Center itself has history. It's the oldest of its kind in that nation that is still in its original building. It's also on the history register.
