SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Frank Williams has worked at the Coastal Georgia Botanical Gardens for over 30 years and on Sunday, the organization dedicated a building to him.
Mr. Frank Williams started his journey at Coastal Georgia botanical garden thirty-one years ago. He's known around the garden because of his love and knowledge of harvesting historic bamboo, which is why he is deemed "Mr. Bamboo."
His friends, coworkers, and family watched on today as the botanical gardens honored him. He says he is humble and prays to keep on working and teaching.
"Out of the 31 years I've been here, I've never been sick," said Frank Williams. "I've taken a sick day off and I asked the Lord for a job and this is where he put me at and I told him I would work and work and work and I haven't gotten tired yet."
Williams has seen the botanical gardens transform and multiply and he says he plans to let his legacy live on through others.
