SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Before we get to this week's Good News, I would like to take a moment to recognize all the first responders from Wednesday's C-130 plane crash.

Dozens, if not hundreds, of law enforcement, firefighters, military, and even regular citizens who happened up on the scene, responded with bravery and honor in an attempt to help make what turned out to be a horrible situation from becoming even worse.

We salute all the civilian and military personnel who put their lives on the line daily with no purpose other than to keep the rest of us safe.

Now, on with some of this week's Good News. We start with a look at how some sorority sisters are helping Seniors get a head start on beating the heat. The Delta Sigma Theta Sorority's Savannah Alumni Chapter made its annual donation of fans to Senior Citizens, Inc., even before the organization's official fan campaign starts next month. The donation is one of the events during the sorority's observation of May Week, which lets members experience the value of giving back.

Vaden Chevrolet is giving back as part of its 50th Anniversary celebration. This week, Jane Vaden Thacher announced that Michelle Onuoha is the winner of Vaden's 50th Anniversary Car Giveaway. Her name was pulled from all the entries from the month-long contest. Jane, along with Vaden Chevrolet's General Manager Neal Wilson, presented Michelle with her brand new 2018 Chevrolet Cruze. Congratulations to her.
