Leading by five at halftime, Savannah Christian felt pretty good about their chances of claiming the South Carolina Independent Lacrosse League division title over rival Savannah Country Day Thursday night.
The Raiders still left Morris Field as the champ, but not until after a thrilling second half and overtime period.
Country Day rallied from five goals down to take a 9-8 lead with less than five minutes to play when Wallace Geriner found the net.
But a desperate rally from Savannah Christian resulted in Mike Vidan's game-tying goal with 8.6 seconds remaining.
The Raiders won in overtime when Alex Vierheileg tossed it in with 27.6 seconds remaining in the first extra period.
With the win, Savannah Christian earns the south division championship and will play for the SCILL Championship Sunday afternoon at Morris Field.
