GSP investigates fatal ATV crash in Appling County

APPLING CO., GA (WTOC) -

A man is dead after an ATV crash in Appling County Saturday morning.

Appling County Sheriff’s Deputies responded around 3:30 a.m. to a creek on Morris Landing Road. When they arrived, deputies found a side by side ATV partially submerged in the creek.

The Appling County Search and Rescue Team was called in to assist in locating the driver.  The team found a white male submerged a short distance from the ATV around 7:45 a.m.

The identity of the individual is being withheld pending notification of family.  The Georgia State Patrol is investigating the accident.

    Subtropical Storm Alberto continues to bring heavy rain and a high risk for rip currents to the Gulf Coast.  Alberto is just west of Tampa and moving to north by northwest at 12mph.  Peak winds are 50 mph and no significant strengthening is expected as we head into Monday.
