ST. HELENA ISLAND, SC (WTOC) - The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting that took place on Sea Island Parkway in St. Helena, Thursday afternoon.

Around 4 p.m., investigators responded to a report of two black vehicles being driven recklessly - one following the other - heading north on Sea Island Parkway. It was further reported that the driver of the lead vehicle was firing a handgun through the sunroof at the car behind it. Officials say two vehicles that happened to be traveling in the area at the time were hit by the bullets. Fortunately, no one was injured.

Deputies learned through investigation that the two black vehicles turned off onto Folly Road from Sea Island Parkway. Deputies searched the area, but neither the vehicles nor the drivers/occupants were found.
