BEAUFORT CO., SC (WTOC) - The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating a deadly crash that happened in Beaufort County Thursday night.
It happened around 8 p.m. on U.S. Highway 21 at Parris Island Gateway. Troopers say the driver was traveling north on 21 when they went off the road and hit a tree.
The male passenger was removed from the vehicle and transported to the hospital. According to officials, the female driver was trapped inside the wreckage and had to be extricated using the Jaws of Life. Unfortunately, she did not survive and was pronounced dead at the scene.
SCHP is investigating what caused the driver to crash.
