If you are a hurricane victim or an evacuee from one of the affected Hurricane Katrina communities, the U.S. Department of Labor offers income support for you through temporary jobs, unemployment insurance, and disaster unemployment assistance. Call 1-866-4-USA-DOL (1-866-487-2365) for full information.
Workers do not have to return home to file a claim for unemployment assistance. Calling the U.S. Labor Department’s toll free number (1-866-4-USA-DOL/1-866-487-2365) anytime day or night will provide information directing you to a local One-Stop Center or a site near you to take your claim.
The department has a toll-free number -- 1-866-4-USA-DOL (1-866-487-2365) -- and a Web site, www.dol.gov (click on Department of Labor’s Hurricane Recovery Assistance Page), both of which direct Hurricane Katrina victims to information about temporary jobs and unemployment assistance to help them as they recover from the storm’s devastating effects.
CLEAR CHANNEL SAVANNAH HELPS PEOPLE FIND JOBS
Savannah’s Clear Channel group of Radio Stations is helping people relocating here because of Hurricane Katrina find jobs through a partnership with The United Way and The Savannah Chapter of the American Red Cross.
Each Clear Channel Radio Station (see list below) is soliciting both employers and potential employees to visit their website. There employers can post jobs, and employees can browse the list of postings. The job postings are also being forwarded to the United Way’s 2-1-1 center and the Red Cross. When you check the websites and peruse the jobs you’ll see there’s a full range of options for anyone in the area looking for a job.
The Clear Channel Savannah family of radio stations includes WAEV – 97.3 Kiss FM, WLVH - Love 101.1, WYKZ - 98.7 The River, 1230 WSOK, News Radio 1290 WTKS, and WQBT - 94.1 The Beat.www.973kissfm.comwww.love1011.comwww.987theriver.comwww.941thebeat.comwww.newsradio1290wtks.comwww.1230wsok.com
