Hinesville Chick-fil-a provides local teens with scholarships

HINESVILLE, GA (WTOC) - Every year Chik-fil-A restaurants across the nation use their Remarkable Futures Scholarships program to give back to teens enrolled in local high schools.

Hinesville Chik-fil-A owner Nick Westbrook presented the Remarkable Futures Leaderships Scholarship to six Chik-fil-A Team Members who work at his restaurant, totaling $15,000 dollars. He says the six young men and women who received the scholarship went above and beyond in their duties as employees of his restaurant which is one of the reasons they received the award.

"Our mission here is to make is to make a significant positive impact on our team members, our guests and our community, and this is a really significant impact in these students' lives," said Westbrook. "They deserve it, they've earned it they're remarkable young men and women."

"I had no idea this was going to go on at all, I was really shocked," said scholarship recipient Andrew Hames. "I had no idea what was going on at first, but I'm very honored to be here for sure."

One mother spoke about how proud she was of her daughter.

"I'm extremely proud of my daughter Khloe Villafane for receiving the Chik-fil-A scholarship," said Kathy Villafane. "She worked hard all year and she definitely deserves it."

"I know there was a lot of people all across the country applying for this scholarship, and that they chose me I felt blessed," her daughter said.

This year Chik-fil-A has given away their largest scholarship award at fourteen and a half million dollars worth of scholarships.
