ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Southwest Georgia beekeepers said, if you're looking to buy honey or bees, this is the time of year to do so.

The SOWEGA Beekeepers Club opened their hives Sunday at Chehaw Park.

Professional beekeepers and citizens will be able to raise honeybees throughout the season as they create honey and more bees.

Experts said, honeybees pollinate more this time of year because of high temperatures - which is good for our environment.

"This is the summer season and what our bees are doing right now are is there growing in mass. So their populations are getting bigger and bigger all the time and their putting away honey. But one of the things that's also happening is that bees this time of year tend to reproduce," said Thom Carey, Vice President of SOWEGA Beekeepers Club.

The SOWEGA Beekeepers Club is planning now for its bee school starting this fall at Chehaw Park.
