FORT STEWART (WTOC) -

Georgia's U.S. Senator Johnny Isakson, Senator David Perdue and congressman Buddy Carter are urging the United States Army secretary to consider Fort Stewart as home to the Army's new 16th Armored Brigade Combat team.

The three Georgia lawmakers highlighted Fort Stewart's existing capacity to receive the Armored Brigade Combat Team, noting that Fort Stewart would provide a more strategic distribution of armor units around the country.

If placed at Fort Stewart, it would bring nearly 4,000 soldiers and their families to coastal Georgia.
