GDOT announces plans for repairing stretch of GA-21 following C-130 crash

PORT WENTWORTH, GA (WTOC) -

The Georgia Department of Transportation has released its plans on how they will move forward with repairing the stretch of highway damaged after the C-130 military plane crash on May 2.

The wreckage has been cleared from GA-21, but the military is still in control of the site. It is unclear when exactly GDOT will officially take over, but a news release that GDOT tweeted out on Wednesday stated the Air National Guard has provided funds for the restoration and repair to the impacted areas.

The affected sections of Hwy 21 will remain closed for the duration of the restoration and repair work.
