Metter Police arrest 2 teens after victim assaulted, car stolen

CANDLER CO., GA (WTOC) - Several teens were arrested Friday in Candler County after a woman was assaulted and her car was stolen on Saturday, May 13.

Metter Police arrested 17-year-old Decaprio Rock of Claxton, and a 15-year-old juvenile also from Claxton. Both were charged with motor vehicle hijacking in the second degree. The juvenile was also charged with aggravated battery and was released to the custody of the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice.

Police responded to West Broad Street last Saturday at 1:44 a.m. about a stolen vehicle. They discovered the victim with injuries to her facial area that were sustained when her vehicle was taken by force by two unidentified black males. EMS was called to the scene and transported the victim to the Candler County Hospital where she was treated for non-life threatening injuries and released.

One of the boys is described as having a dark complexion, standing 6' to 6'4 and weighing 160 to 200 pounds. He was wearing an orange jacket or sweater. The other boy is described as having a dark complexion, standing 5'4 to 5'8 in height and wearing a red-colored hooded sweatshirt.

The vehicle stolen is described as a gold, 2003 Ford Taurus, bearing Georgia license plate number PYP 6547. The Taurus also had a large Batman sticker in the back window and a Star Wars sticker on the left rear bumper. It was last seen traveling west on West Broad Street, and the shorter teen was last seen running north from the scene.

Rock is currently behind bars at the Candler County Jail.

The Evans County Sheriff's Office and Georgia Bureau of Investigation assisted in this case. Metter Police are still investigating and asks anyone with information pertaining to the case to call Sgt. Tim Platt at 912.685.5437, or 911.
