SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Some young girls in Savannah got the chance to be princesses for a special dance on Saturday evening.

This particular dance hosted by Helping Hands of Savannah is for girls who don't get to attend the normal father-daughter dance for any reason. Servicemen in the community step in to accompany the young girls and give them the chance to be princesses for the evening.

The co-founder of the organization tells us what it does for the community.

" It bridges a gap between Savannah where a lot of times you see law enforcement and you know a lot of the news that's bad surrounds Savannah," said Evonn Nguyen. "But, what we want to do is bridge that gap between Savannah and the young girls here and how they see law enforcement officers, EMS or military."

The night included a full dinner, young girls dressed up like Disney princesses, and even a chance to go home wearing a tiara.
