SOUTH CAROLINA (WTOC) - The South Carolina Department of Public Safety begins its Buckle Up South Carolina campaign on Monday, May 21.
The annual campaign focuses on seat belt safety ahead of the busy summer travel season.
Law enforcement says you should always hear that click before getting out on the roads.
This year, the South Carolina Department of Safety is using a social media campaign as well to get help the message across -- it's called #WhatMakesYouClick.
Officials are asking people to take to social media to show the reason why they click. Many people have posted photos of their families, saying the reason why they click is so they can make it home to their loved ones.
Sadly, more than 350 people have died on South Carolina roads this year. Officials say 257 of those people had access to seat belts, but 129 were not wearing them when they crashed and died. That's why the South Carolina Highway Patrol and other regional and national partners will be out in full force throughout the next week making sure people click it.
South Carolina's seat belt campaign runs through Sunday, June 3.
