Tormenta FC was only able to break through for one goal Saturday night, but that was enough to stay unbeaten at home.
The Statesboro club knocked off SC United Bantams 1-0 Saturday, earning a win over a team playing shorthanded the entire second half.
A skirmish late in the first half led to a red card for a Bantams player, and gave Tormenta the advantage for the final 45 minutes.
Marco Micaletto found the net in the 61st minute to put Tormenta ahead, and the team held on for their second straight victory.
Tormenta had plenty of chances, including three near-misses in the final 15 minutes of the first half.
Toni Soler's shot in the 31st minute grazed the top of the crossbar, while Jordan Walshaw had a pair of opportunities. His first was a shot that went just wide left of the frame. His second was off a spectacular pass the over the top off the Bantams defense. A streaking Walshaw got a toe on it, but just lifted it high.
The win helps Tormenta improve to 2-0-1 on the season. The team has 10 days before facing the Bantams again, this time on the road.
