HINESVILLE, GA (WTOC) - The Hinesville Panera Bread and Covelli Enterprises presented a $1,000 check to the Liberty County Relay for Life on Wednesday.
The business is partnering with the American Cancer Society in the fight against cancer. The money was raised over the last two months through Panera's Receipts for Relay Campaign. Customers posted their store receipts to a website and Panera donated 10 percent of every check back to the cause - keeping the money local and helping members of the Hinesville community.
"I hope our employees feel awesome about it because they're all locals and the money is going back to help the community, so we're happy to do it," said Danielle Covelli, Covelli Enterprises, Panera Bread.
"Everyone has been affected by cancer - either a grandmother or a mother - so it's all going into one pot and it's going back to fight against cancer," said Ebonie Cohens, American Cancer Society.
This is the first year the Hinesville Panera Bread ran Receipts for Relay. The money they donated was part of the $71,000 raised by the Liberty County Relay for Life.
