HAMPTON CO., SC (WTOC) - UPDATE: A second arrest was made in the triple shooting that took place in Gifford on Sunday night.
The Hampton County Sheriff's Office says 28-year-old Kendric Deron Jackson of Estill has been arrested and charged with three counts of attempted murder in connection to the shooting. The case is still under investigation.
The Hampton County Sheriff's Office is investigating after responding to what turned into a shooting Sunday night in Gifford.
Officers responded to a call for assistance from the Gifford Police Department in reference to a fight in progress at the Gifford Community Center around 1:30 a.m. Officers encountered a large group of individuals in and around the roadway. They attempted to disperse the crowd when a blue four-door sedan with three occupants drove up and an altercation took place between the passengers and an individual in front of a nearby house.
A passenger of the sedan began firing several shots towards the crowd, causing gunshot injuries to three victims before speeding away from the scene. As a result, 27-year-old Benjamin Holmes was arrested and charged with three counts of attempted murder and three counts of possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.
