BEAUFORT CO., SC (WTOC) - Voters in Beaufort County may need to learn the location of new precincts before voting in the South Carolina primary on June 12.
The county announced nine polling location changes just a week before the election.
"Sometimes we have last minute changes to facilities being repaired especially in the school district," said Marie Smalls, the director of the Beaufort County Board of Elections. "The summer months they are usually tearing out floors, repairing floors, replacing roofs, fixing air conditioning units."
The county said they are doing what they can to send everyone to the right place Tuesday.
"We will post signs at the locations we are moving away from," Smalls said. "Hopefully everyone will know where to go election morning. We just ask everyone to get the word out, and, hopefully, the number of confused voters will be at a minimum."
Six precincts are being housed in four new locations. The board of elections sent out new voter registrations cards to voters in those consolidated precincts.
Another six precincts are being temporarily housed in five different locations because of repairs to the original facilities.
