BEAUFORT CO., SC (WTOC) - There won't be a new sheriff in town for Beaufort. Incumbent Sheriff P.J. Tanner beat out his first challenger in 16 years.
The challenger running on the Republican ticket is JoJo Woodward. Woodward accused the Sheriff's Office of being too reactive.
Tanner says he's proud to be the choice the people of Beaufort decided to go with.
"That was campaign rhetoric that was put out by my opponent. The sheriff's office is not broken. Our communication is great, our school safety objectives are great, our budget is approved by 11 council members," Tanner said.
Tanner will run unopposed on the Beaufort County ticket come November.
